Anyone who owns a house needs to have it insured whether they use it as their residence, lake house, or rent/lease it to someone else. Usually our home is our largest asset and that investment deserves to be protected from things that could diminish its value. If you have a mortgage on the property, the lender will require that you have an insurance policy on it for at least what you owe the mortgage company in order to protect their interest. There are different types of policies to cover property depending on each situation and use of the property. These policies cover the dwelling, contents and protect you in case someone gets injured while on your property. Additional coverage is available depending on the type of policy.
